Install (awstats) behind a proxy server

Hi,
I'm trying to install lsws including awstats behind a proxy server. This fails because the installer doesn't use the proxy server I specified using HTTP_PROXY. How can do the install with a proxy server?

As suggested in the install output I performed the manual install. Download from sourceforge, extract and then made root the owner and created a symbolic link awstats to folder awstats-6.6.

Didn't test it but I think that is all there is to it.
