Cpanel VHost question
 

I've noticed the VHosts created by cpanel don't transition over to litespeed. It recognizes them, but its not in the configuration - virtual hosts.

Anyway its not a huge problem for me since I can still start and stop them from the actions tab, but does this mean I am also unable to limit the Virtual Host speed and such as I would be able to if I created it in litespeed?.

this is normal. vhosts defined in apache httpd.conf not show here.

those vhosts are defined in apache. I'm not clear if apache has "Per Client Throttle" alike feature at the time being. if you want to limit one vhost's speed, you may try define the vhost in litespeed's admin console --- i.e. the native configuration. and remove or disable it in httpd.conf.

Will cpanel still create VHosts in the httpd.conf, or is there a way to configure it to create in litespeeds?. And if I transfer a vhost from httpd.conf, will cpanel still recognize it?.

once you use cPanel to manage a vhost, you should stick to this way. since cPanel has rich features to mange all vhosts. Litespeed is mainly a web server, to be compatible with apache. it's lack of account/domain/vhost management features like cPanel.

Being aware of this, in theory it's possible to define vhosts via litespeed's native configuration while read vhosts in httpd.conf at the same time. And vhosts via native configuration has higher priority than those defined in httpd.conf.

I'm wondering if any of our cPanel users have actual experience regarding this. and please correct me if anything wrong.

See, I don't really mind cpanel doing all the managing, but I would like to be able to use litespeed's vhost editor because of all the goodies it has (client/vhost bandwidth limiting, static/dyn requests.... chroot for VH (Seriously?. So you can Chroot the webserver and then have a different chroot for every VH?. Awesome), restrained is another good one.

But yeah, I'm fine without it, it would just be another goodie :P. It would be nice if I was able to edit the cpanel created VH in litespeed though.
