Default Use Asynchronized disk I/O (AIO)?

First question is that is it recommened to be on with multicpu system RHEL5? Any disadvantages, problems with MySQL for example?

Second question is, when LSWS admin has

Use Asynchronized disk I/O (AIO) Not Set

is it equivalent to "no", or is it equivalent to something like "use system's default"?
