PHP executable size

Hi,

The php 4.4.8 binary that comes with LSWS 3.3.11 is 1.7 Mb big. When I compile it with the same configure commands (as per phpinfo), I'm getting 4 Mb.

Php 5.2.6 compiles into a 12.2 Mb monster. One time it was 11.2 Mb, with the same commands. I have no idea how that hapend...

So, how did you manage to compile it so small? Can you maybe give any tips for 5.x?

After compiling, run:

strip -s <binary_name>

e.g.

strip -s lsphp5
