Default Standard edition and WHM plugin
I'd appreciate couple of answers please.

Can standard edition be installed and controlled with WHM plugin?
And is there a linux x86_64 version of standard edition?

If you host a single web site with WHM, it probably works.
The WHM plugin is designed for enterprise edition.
linux x86_64 standard version is not available.
