Default Rebuild httpd.conf

I'm new to Apache/Cpanel/WHM but with instructions I can find my way around.

I have primary domain example.com (working)

Now, I'm trying to create subdomain forums.example.com (public_html/forums)

I added A record for cpanel pointing to same IP as example.com

Now pointing forums.example.com is going to example.com

I understand that next step is edit the virtual host in httpd.conf

I see httpd.conf in 2 locations

/etc/httpd/conf/
/usr/local/apache/conf

I have right DNS entries in cpanel, but now I want to rebuild httpd.conf to have right virtual hosts.

1) How to rebuild httpd.conf?
I tried /scripts/rebuildhttpdconf and apache restart didn't help

2) Will cpanel automatically rebuild, if not what command should I run?

I read that any manyal changes will be lost when cpanel rebuild.

Thanks in advance for your help.

cpanel should automatically rebuild the conf files once you made change through gui interface. you should check with cpanel support for your issue.
