No Action with Build PHP

Hello,
I am installing 4.0.10 on a new box and I am having trouble with building php via the web interface. Nothing seems to happen when i click build php. It goes to the compile php with lsapi page but hangs there with Step 3 : Preparing for building PHP 5.3.0 Binary and nothing is written to the log just

**LOG_DETAIL** retrieved from /usr/local/lsws/phpbuild/buildphp_1251310650.3.log

Not sure if I am missing something but I have never had this issue before?

the latest release require you to login via ssh to start the build script manually as instructed on the screen.
