Optimized enterprise settings?

Hello,

I am running LSWS enterprise on a dual processor Dell under CentOS 4.2 (essentially RHEL 4). I am curious if there are any particular configuaration areas I should tweak for maximum performance and scalability.

The obvious candidates look like maximum sockets (is 10,000 a safe number?) and event handler (epoll?).

Besides maximum sockets and epoll, if the server serves a lot of static file, you can turn on sendfile as well.
