Transfer License after Server Migrate

We are migrating from a CentOS 5 server to a CentOS 7 server.

We are using rsync to move our data from old server to new server.

The new server will take over the current servers IP address after we finish the migration.

In order for our LiteSpeed Enterprise License to be used on the new server, will we need to follow the 'How to Transfer an Existing License' steps, or will the License just sort itself out after we update the IP address on the new server?

please follow the wiki.

before activate the license on new server, you've to release the license on the old server.
either run command "lsws/bin/lshttpd -m" on old server or login client area to release.

The message in the client area suggests it would be better to follow the wiki procedure so there is an overlap of licenses.

Does this mean I could follow the wiki instructions on a Monday, and then migrate to a new server on Tuesday, and for that time both servers will have an active license?

Ok.

So when I run ...
Code:
new_server:lsws/bin/lshttpd -r
How will the new server know which license to use? Or will it ask me for my Serial No.?

Or perhaps my misunderstanding is because we did a fresh install of LiteSpeed on the new server, so the 'serial.no' file does not exist in the /conf/ directory on the new server.

Should I just copy the 'serial.no' file across to the new server?

That makes sense - then I can just follow the instructions as per the wiki.

Are there any other files that need to come across? We currently have a trial license on the new server and are happy with the configuration, so I don't imagine we need to copy across configuration files. Is that correct?

You do not need to copy configuration over if there werent any specific settings that you had done. You can always backup httpd_conf.xml and any other configuration files you have changed if things start to not work well.
