Default Noob: How to set HTTP username/pass for virtual host

I understand this to be a really "noob" question, but:

I have an application which I am currently developing, running as a virtual host in my LS 2.2. I want to add a standard HTTP username/password protection, to avoid visitors browsing the site before it is launched.

Could some friendly soul please explain in a series of steps how I go about doing that?

Thanks

Please check the authentication realm configuration in the documentation.

Thanks, I have now made a "Demo" realm and created a "demo" user within that realm. A note for other users - check permissions on the "User DB" file, or even though you press "Save" after adding users, you will not get any indication of failure nor anything stored in the file.

But (doh!) how do I now enforce access to my VH, so that only the authenticated "demo" user may access it?

Add a context with url "/" pointing to document root of vhost, then use your realm there.
