Server is slow

Since the introduction of Wrapper script, the server is slow, mainly when Account Creation / Deletion takes place.

I have confirmed it with swapping between apache and litespeed. When apache is used , account is creating very fast but when litespeed is used account creations as well as deletions are slow, when the step "Reloading services " comes

Is there any fix for this ?

Response: Vivek,

I checked and the memory is fine. On a linux server, the memory is consumed then redistributed, so it will always appear high.

The cpu load is high because of the following processes, it looks like it's from litespeed's php:

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
2642 nobody 25 0 26876 11m 5032 R 99 0.1 797:22.19 lsphp4
27596 nobody 16 0 33132 17m 5240 S 17 0.2 0:03.34 lsphp4

Thank you,

okay thank you
I am installing it.

BTW, is there any way for optimizing the memory as well as cpu usage when Litespeed is running ? As per the tech, lsphp4 is causing high server load.

that simply means that there is a lot of php processing done aka lots of php-pages accessed. no problem with that in my opinion.

I installed the new version which replaced restartsrv_httpd

Installed at 10 AM, But around 2 PM the server went down very badly
I tried eveything to make it up,even a reboot also.
NO lshttpd process running , tried lsws restart,
then lshttpd is running but no websites are opening

Tried to uninstall lsws from /lsws/admin/misc/,

installation stopped with "Unable to stop service"

No other way, the server was down for more than 2 hrs because of litespeed,

killed all lshttpd,lsphp4 processes
moved /scripts/restartsrv_httpd_ls_bak to restartsrv_httpd
moved httpd_ls_bak to httpd

restarted apache and apache is now running

That was the very bad experience with litespeed ( I am using it since 4 or 5 months )

George, you should consider fixing the new version, as it is not 100% perfect

I didnt check the server log as I was in hurry, the server was down for more than 2 hrs, and clients called many times

I am not able to remove these two folders
/home/lsws -> my lsws installation folder
/tmp/lshttpd

Reinstalled lsws to /opt/lsws
Litespeed is not even starting

okay, I am not going to stop it :)

Contacted cpanel.net and they deleted those folders.

Reinstalled everything from the scratch , compiled php as well as installed xcache
since 8hrs the server is working fine now. The server load is dropped from 15 to 1-2 when I installed litespeed

I spent 2 hrs with litespeed wiki as well as performance tuning section and modified the config according to my knowledge.

There is no more issue till now. I am using Ent 3.12 , Since I got permission error from 3.13

Just a question : If I install 3.13 with override restartsrv_httpd enabled, then how can I switch back to apache temporarily ?

/usr/local/apache/bin/httpd uninstall will work with restartsrv_httpd method ? Or it is just for wrapper script?

the latest 3.3.13 build should work better during a graceful restart.

You shuld be able to switch back to apache with

service lsws stop
service httpd start

when override restartsrv_httpd

/usr/local/apache/bin/httpd uninstall is for wrapper script only, make sure to uninstall it when use override restartsrv_httpd

Just now I upgraded to the 3.3.13
and activated the override option

Created a domain thru WHM and I found that the litespeed stopped

Hey

I dont know what is going on but I am not able to switch back to apache now since the update

service lsws stop
/usr/local/apache/bin/httpd uninstall
service httpd start

which is now not loading Apache
Why

root@core2quad [~]# service lsws stop
root@core2quad [~]# /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd uninstall
[ERROR] lshttpd is not running.
root@core2quad [~]# service httpd start
/etc/init.d/httpd start: httpd started
root@core2quad [~]#

BUT STILL LSWS is loading instead of apache
/usr/local/apache/bin/httpd , is the same (wrapper)
