Apache VS Litespeed question.

#1
I've been a server admin for over 20 years and now I'm faced with an upgrade choice due to the upcoming demise of centos 7.

Apache or Litespeed. Apache is free, Litespeed costs. I have an issue with a heavily loaded php website (wordpress go figure - a pig with lipstick) and Litespeed is touted as fast as lightning comparatively. I don't need any cache crap. The one site is an LMS with constantly changing content for an educational student portal (LMS). Currently we're running at a constant 1.xxx server load on top with 100% cpu usage with just a few people doing lessons online.

So, I guess my question is... is the upgrade to Litespeed worth it, and does it respect the same htaccess rules that apache does? We will be migrating either on Thanksgiving or Christmas holidays.

Thanks in Advance!
dr.
