I am coding an .htaccess file that will address subdirectory browsing permissions and password access for a subdomain, not the main root (i.e., subdomain.xxx.com as opposed to xxx.com). Should this .htaccess file be uploaded to the server on the subdomain "root"? Or, rather, should subdomain-specific directives be added to the .htaccess file presently on the main root?
